The New Children of the Sun
Peru gained independence from Spain over 200 years ago, but the wounds of its colonial past remain fresh today. The divides between race, class and geographical regions run wide and deep, yet Peru is a potpourri of cultures and peoples that make it the unique country it is. This 131-page illustrated art/ coffee table book written in Spanish, English and German features portraits and personal histories of contemporary Peruvians from the coast, sierra, Amazon and those born abroad. The content provides an invitation to the reader to reflect upon what it means to be from any one nation or culture and what it means to be an active player in the development of our societies. Of course, it's also an invitation to get to know my home country, Peru, through its extraordinary and diverse people!
